Definitely not an Air replacement - too big and too ugly. I always thought the Mavic series was clunky, until the Air. The Air only needs a 30 minute battery to make it perfect imho.
It is hard to believe you got 20 minutes at one time. Common knowledge among MA pilots is that 15 - 16 minutes is the best you will get. Flying in low temperatures will further reduce flight duration.
Be sure to check your home point after lift off and check for good GPS lock when you initiate RTH. I have found RTH is a good method of demonstrating drone technology to uninitiated friends. Look Ma, no hands!
I've been thinking the same thing about the algorithm DJI uses to generate the high wind alert. It is probably not reliable with after market props. I checked the MAS web site and they state that the stealth props for Mavic 2 do NOT require gain changes.
Yes I enjoy using airdata but saw only the alerts, no high wind. I was only 40 feet aloft and that same day I was also flying a tiny UMX micro Cessna with no issues. The only other time I have seen high wind warnings was a day when the wind was blowing my hat off and airdata indicated 27 mph...
Thanks for this information. I found the loss of signal setting but I have looked until I'm crosseyed and can't find on/off RTH on the battery page, however I did find it in the GO4 manual. I guess, for some reason, DJI decided that Mavic Air pilots don't need that option :-( I too rarely use...
No capability to change loss of signal to hover or to turn off RTH on low battery in Mavic Air. Don't know about the other Mavics but since they all use DJI GO 4 they're probably the same. What you are suggesting sounds like Phantom in original DJI GO.
I've gotten several high wind warnings after installing Master Airscrew V2 props. It was a very calm day (3-5 mph). I installed the original DJI props and the warning went away. Have since flown in high wind with DJI props with no warnings. Anyone else seeing this?
I fly ATTI mode with Phantom 3P and homebrew birds. I also would like to fly in ATTI mode with MA but have not found a way to enable it. Maybe if you block the GPS receiver with foil and block the downward VPS sensors it would switch to ATTI. Haven't tried that but it probably would not take off.
Been there, done that. I tried cinematic mode as suggested by @Rafael266 and that does the trick. In that mode braking can be completely disabled. The only problem is that stick response is reduced in cinematic mode.
If you use the Air Data service, the HD Sync app will automatically upload your flights to their web site (if you have internet connection on your phone).
