It looks like no one has been able to provide a quantitative answer to the OP question. My take on the question was to get an idea of how long a battery would last keeping it fully charged vs keeping it at ,say, 50% charged (all else being equal). I too would like to know. Specifically, If I...
They do not want transponders, but rather that the drone “broadcast” the data elements. They have not yet determined the structure of how the broadcast messages will be received or by whom, except it will be FAA contractors. A whole national system will have to be planned and set up for receipt...
If you read the proposal, there is a very concise estimate of total costs to owners, manufacturers etc. I assume that much of the manufacturer cost will also be borne by the consumer?
The only drones sold in us that can fly outside of approved community organization areas will either have direct “broadcasting” of required data and an internet connection, or just internet connection. These must be active from takeoff to landing and a mechanism in place to assure compliance in...
You are missing an important part of the requirements. The UAV has two suggested modes for conveying the “data elements” externally: 1) the internet. 2) direct “broadcasting” from the UAS.
There are existing mechanisms for getting to the internet through our controllers and cell phones or...
Was wondering the same. It is said that you should have an appropriately slow shutter speed to prevent choppy video. We know that the aperture of the Mini is fixed. Does’s that mean that mean that when you adjust the “EV” that you are actually adjusting he shutter speed? I know that once you get...
Problem is that wind speed is also associated with a specific wind direction (ie a “vector”). Simple subtraction of gps estimate from ideal velocity would only estimate the component of wind in the same direction. I imagine, if one lets go of the sticks so the drone tries to just stay in one gps...
Just should keep in mind that the wind velocity at a given location can vary greatly with even small increases of altitude above ground level. Caution should extend to being aware of this. Safe flying , all.
The Pilot In Command can take eyes off the drone and look at display for brief periods of time as long as situational awareness is maintained as to drone location and visual scanning of environment vs drone position is maintained. Eyes do not have to be glued to the drone.
If you are a part 107 approved sUAS pilot, you may not have any alcoholic beverages within 8 hours of flying your MAVIC. And yes, the MAVIC is considered to be an aircraft.

The major artifact you are seeing, particularly on the left side, is reflection, flare, from sunlight off of the props. Note the clear rotatory nature of that artifact. I would imagine that you will find it only occurs when the orientation of the camera is at a particular position in...
