    Anyone in Ottawa?

Haven't been out when it is that cold but I have been out as low as -5, mostly though because the iPhone sucks in cold weather and you are likely to lose it after about five minutes in anything below 0 or -1. I think the drone is more dependable although specs so -10 is the low limit.

    Nvidia Shield K1 advice

There have been a number of cases (myself included) where the 128GB card will not work in the Mavic. I've been able to use one in my OSMO even though the manual says it won't work, but I found with the Mavic the 64GB limit turns out to be accurate.

Anyone use the MavMount for iPad?

Correct indeed. A much different and better feel when mounted from the bottom and the iPad doesn't rotate this way. That was the biggest grief factor with the middle mount. I find the balance much better as well. A suggestion when you ship this - add a sheet of paper to clarify this difference...

Anyone use the MavMount for iPad?

I ordered the 2"-11" mount. Have not tried the bottom mount. When it came (it has no instructions), the center mount is clearly meant to be the mount point so that is what I have tried to work with. Why would it be there if not to be used. When the weather permits, I will be trying the bottom...

Anyone use the MavMount for iPad?

This is the mount. The slider in the middle is the "glitchy" one. It has a one way ratchet that can't be adjusted and allows the iPad to rotate (too easily). It doesn't matter how far up or down you slide it, it doesn't "balance." Otherwise this would be a nice mount. (The blue one is even nicer.)

Anyone use the MavMount for iPad?

Incidentally folks, the version shipping now (just got mine recently) is using a completely different mount. The mount point is now in the middle instead of the bottom, and swivels with a ratcheting rotating 1/4" socket to fasten to the ball on the base. Unfortunately, the swivel tends to move...

Discussion: Flying with or without bubble / camera cover

This is one of those hot topics that gets people going because they adamantly believe their point of view to be correct. There are claims that DJI says to fly with them, and yet when I contacted them I was told not to because it shuts off ventilation important to cooling. Those that want to use...

    DJI official Mavic sun hood

I agree the Hoodman looks like a very nice option but unfortunately it's not an option here in Canada because it does not comply with Transport Canada's "line of sight" requirements.

    DJI official Mavic sun hood

I just acquired this one frome Aerial Drone Accessories too and it is fantastic. I note on their website they are about to come out with something similar for the iPad Mini. The reason this one works so well is that the phone sits "below" the controller level and it enable access to the iPhone...

    Precision Landing Not Accurate

Precision landings work perfectly for me. What I have observed is that pilots do not give the Mavic time to take the photo required to make the precision landing. The manual mentions that you have to fly up to about 10m but it isn't clear on mentioning that you have to give it up to 10 seconds...

Anyone else seeing large battery drain on iphone?

The problem is definitely related to using the iPhone in colder temperatures. It is not "certified" to work below 0C (32F). When held in the hand (such as text or a phone call), it usually isn't a problem until much much colder temperatures, but because it sits in the remote grips when flying it...

Anyone use the MavMount for iPad?

Unfortunately, the Hoodman "snout" as I call it is not permitted in Canada because of the "line of sight" rule. I checked and Transport Canada does not consider it compliant to the LOS rule if you are using it. Pity because it looks really good for bright days.
