    NFZ: Need Clarifications

I've noticed that DJI has designated several airports in Class G airspace as a "blue zone" within a 1/2 mile or so of the airport. Does anyone know if a Mavic (or other DJI product) can fly in the blue zone? If not, can it be unlocked? Part 107 certified sUAS Remote Pilots can very near...

MAVIC vs GOPRO KARMA - One of them is the worst drone ever.

The camera on the Mavic is fixed. The $299.00 price for the Karma Grip includes the gimbal. For a DJI equivalent you would have to by the Osmo and a camera. I wouldn't question that if you are looking for a more capable drone, then the Mavic looks like it wins hands down. Not that both also...

MAVIC vs GOPRO KARMA - One of them is the worst drone ever.

All this Karma bashing, my ears are bleeding!!! How many of those complaining actually own or have flown one? Seriously, the Hero 5 is $399, the Karma Grip is $299, so that means that the Karma alone is effectively $500.00. That's really not too bad is it?

    Huge GPS problem!!!

Really? In the case shown here it was an indoor balcony and the "pilot" had no idea whether people were under him (as we later see him directly overflying people). Very "professional."

    Huge GPS problem!!!

Well, although the manual seems to be a bit better than much of the Chinglish I've read before, it is still not easy to follow. One problem is that the terms "altitude" and "height" seem to be used interchangeably. Strictly speaking, "height" should represent the number of meters/feet above...

    Small Airport/Heliport Notification

With all the recent changes in regulations, it's no wonder that hobbyists, commercial operators, and even FAA staff can be confused as to what's what when flying a sUAS. Now throw the local P.D. into the mix and everyone has an opinion. Even the Academy of Model Aeronautics is sending mixed...

Pre-order and Shipping Times - Who Will Get the Mavic First?

Hmmmm, Amazon now shows the Mavic Pro as "This item will be released on November 15, 2016." BestBuy site now has "Releases 30 October." DJI sites says "Shipping estimation: Within November on a first come first served basis." For the GoPro Karma Amazon shows...nothing as it apparently isn't...

    NFZ: Need Clarifications

If you see an aircraft flying in an unsafe manner, or at an altitude that you think is too low, you should notify the FAA. However, be aware that the rules for helicopters are different than for fixed wing aircraft. Helicopters must fly safely, but are not restricted to the 500' and above rule...

    NFZ: Need Clarifications

You really need to do more to meet your due diligence before flying your drone. If you don't and you violate controlled or restricted airspace you are putting our hobby (and a new livelihood for some of us) in danger of facing even more restrictions. If you are only flying for fun, join the...

    NFZ: Need Clarifications

I personally don't rely on any of the "drone apps" although I have most of them on my phone. If flying in a new area, I will make sure that I have the most recent Terminal Area or Sectional chart. None of the apps actually correctly depict airspace classifications, so they don't to much for the...
