    Compass nightmares

I had the same problem with a new Air. Sent it to DJI and they sent me a new one without ever explaining the problem.

    flying in restricted zones

If you’re a professional user get your part 107. The LAANC system is an instant approval that will allow you to fly in most controlled airspace with limitations.

New pilot - general question on losing drones and flyaways

Lots of good advice here. I’m no expert and have minimal time in compared to many here. But, I am one of 80+ 107 pilots flying for a media company with very stringent training requirements for safe flight. We were taught to read the manual and hold fast to the DJI recommendations. Thus, we...

    Stupid question but here goes......

Sure in fact I normally put my phone in Airplane mode.

    Mavic Air ok?

You are right! I stand corrected. Sorry about the misinformation, I confused the camera with that of the P4P for a moment. The rest of my argument stands though. I still prefer my MP to my Air.

    Mavic Air ok?

I have both an Air and a Pro. Just sent the Air in for Compass calibration issue and they replaced it. I prefer the Pro camera with its 35mm equivalent lens with touch screen focus, better connectivity and longer battery life and my ability to see it at least 50% further away. The Air is a...

    Optical Illusion with Buildings?

Look up Moire’ and Aliasing and I think you’ll find your answer.

How to calibrate GPS on mavic air

That said my calibration is wonky on my Air and will likely need a return. It will give me a failure to calibration error and then suddenly show that it’s calibrated and work fine. It is frustrating and a bit nerve racking when I have limited time to get airborne.

How to calibrate GPS on mavic air

DJI says only needs to be done when it says it needs to be done. It will say calibrate compass instead of ready. Double check by making sure orientation arrow is pointed same direction as the drone. Tap status bar at top of the Go4 app and calibration is 3rd option down. I always hover for a...

    who is pizzed at popups?

AFAIK, the FAA hasn’t set a standard for drone manufacturers in terms of warnings, or worse, geofencing some areas. I agree that DJI is trying to create an impression of being an industry leader for safety, but this is way overblown. Private pilots flying their Cessnas have less (no) warnings...

    who is pizzed at popups?

NFZs for hobbiest are often perfectly legal for licensed remote pilots, especially those with airspace approvals and waivers. It’s up to the PIC to make those determinations before flying and in the US, the FAA will hold that PIlot in Command fully responsible. DJI is not the authority. They...

    who is pizzed at popups?

People that haven’t gone to the trouble to learn to fly legally and responsibly, are not likely to read a bunch of pop-ups. There should at least be an option for pro users to turn off all the warnings. This is DJI trying to avoid any liability.

    who is pizzed at popups?

And restricted area warnings and high wind warnings, etc. I check weather TAFs, NOTAMs, and sectional charts as part of my preflight checklist. I don’t need a pop up every time the wind pushes over 8kts. DJI is worse than my exwife about nagging me every minute.

    who is pizzed at popups?

I’m with you. They drive me nuts especially when flying with the iPhone. The left side of the screen fills with so many unnecessary warnings, they become nothing but a nuisance.

    Mavic Pro vs Mavic Air

I have a personal pro and a work issued air (for 3 weeks) along with my Part 107. I fly manually without advanced controls and still have relatively low hours on each. I prefer the Pro mainly for the additional camera controls and because it just feels more solid and stable. The fixed...
