I too, on day 1, assigned C2 to CENTRE AUTOFOCUS so I can quickly get Focus. And set C1 set to CAMERA DOWN so I can quickly check what's beneath me whilst Landing or Descending at a distance away from me where it's hard to see the exact terrain below the craft.

AFC is AUTO FOCUS CONTINUOUS so if left enabled and you are in AF mode, the camera will continuously confirm AF on the area that you've initially tapped in the frame for AUTOFOCUS.

Use the PEAK THRESHOLD option in the General Settings Menu set to HIGH so that you have RED FOCUS PEAKING edging around whatever in the frame is in perfect Focus, it's an added backup to getting sharp Focus.
