Why does the Spark deserve a Spherical Panorama mode when the Mavic doesnt?

You can also make a panorama, including 360°, from a series of still shots, with PTGui. Or for less than 360°, Photoshop's Photomerge works nicely.

DJI GO VS. DJI GO 4

DJI GO is for the older products. DJI GO 4 is for the Phantom 4,Mavic Pro, Phantom 4 Pro, and Inspire 2. They are different apps and are not interchangeable.

Do you wish you had gotten the P4P instead?

The Mavic is easy to transport and takes excellent pictures. I bought a P3P when it was new, but I haven't used it or missed it since I got the Mavic. Many of the Mavic's early issues have been resolved with the firmware updates. Its focusing is still a bit iffy, but only because it's...

    IMU calibration - Gimble bumping

You're right! I just checked. I paid for the Mavic in October, so it must have arrived a few weeks later. It feels a lot longer because I use it almost every day!

    Gimbal during IMU Calibration question

I just calibrated mine. The gimbal did the same thing on step 4. It's fine. You should only need to calibrate the IMU if the Mavic is flying oddly. I also have a P3P. The "gospel" with the Phantom is to calibrate the IMU after a firmware update, or if it has been bumped badly during movement or...

    IMU calibration - Gimble bumping

I've had a P3P for two years and my Mavic for almost a year. With the Phantom, it's "gospel" to calibrate the compass only if it's flying oddly or if the it has traveled more than 50-100 miles from the last time it was calibrated. There's absolutely no need to calibrate it before each flight...

    Free mavic sunshade OMG!!

If it's an Android, just unclick the auto-brightness box, and set the brightness to your liking. I'm sure the iPhones have something similar.

    MA: Drone Flyers Chime In

I grew up in Newton, but live in Atlanta now. What's going on with the drone ordinance in Newton? Most of what I've read deems that it's probably illegal, and certainly contrary to the FAA recommendations. There's at least one lawsuit pending against it. Why haven't all of the local drone...

    Flying Mavic Downtown

Unfortunately, Stone Mountain said absolutely no, too. That was another phone-call I made early-on. But, that probably only applies within their official state-park boundaries. Maybe there's a residential street or nearby park. I haven't explored those options. Before they restricted them...

    Flying Mavic Downtown

Unfortunately, Olympic Park is not OK. I called them when I first got my Phantom 3P a couple of years ago. They said no. If you look at the signs surrounding the park, it's posted against just-about everything (though drones aren't mentioned). They're concerned about its tight space, crowds, and...

    Flying Mavic Downtown

Piedmont Park is fine. Just follow the usual rules of not being over large crowds or events, not straying over roads, and keeping the drone in your line of sight. I took these two pictures there today!

GPS taking a LONG time to connect on initialization.

It doesn't seem matter at all, at least with mine. I have a Phantom 3 Pro, too. The order doesn't seem to matter with that either. As long as they connect, and it flies properly.

    Traveling by airlines and batteries

I take everything as carryon. I've been on many flights and never been stopped or questioned about anything. No issues at all. I'm not sure you need to tape the batteries, even though some airlines' boilerplate specifies that. Older lipos had wire terminals with loose ends, so there was a...

GPS taking a LONG time to connect on initialization.

I don't thank that's overly unusual. I open up the Mavic, place it on the ground, and turn it on first. So it warms up and gets locates the GPS towers. Then I open the controller, place the phone, and turn it on, which takes just enough time that the Mavic is ready to go. Always works fine!

    Shaky and wavey video

Since I posted above, I've been keeping the plastic bubble/dome on while flying. Contrary to the warnings of some people, there has been no degradation of the image -- other than an occasional flare when the sun is low in the sky, and then only at certain angles. This completely resolved my...
