DJI GO is for the older products. DJI GO 4 is for the Phantom 4,Mavic Pro, Phantom 4 Pro, and Inspire 2. They are different apps and are not interchangeable.

I've had a P3P for two years and my Mavic for almost a year. With the Phantom, it's "gospel" to calibrate the compass only if it's flying oddly or if the it has traveled more than 50-100 miles from the last time it was calibrated. There's absolutely no need to calibrate it before each flight...

If it's an Android, just unclick the auto-brightness box, and set the brightness to your liking. I'm sure the iPhones have something similar.

I don't thank that's overly unusual. I open up the Mavic, place it on the ground, and turn it on first. So it warms up and gets locates the GPS towers. Then I open the controller, place the phone, and turn it on, which takes just enough time that the Mavic is ready to go. Always works fine!
