If you swipe vertically on your screen, all the icons disappear leaving just the transmitted video on display. It's a way to view the image without all the clutter. That setting adjusts the swipe motion to be used with either one or two fingers.

I too used to quickly hit RTH when I lost sight of the bird and anxiety set in. One more tip/suggestion: learn to use and rely on the Radar. It highlights the orientation of the AC and by turning it so it points at the centre (your location), you can fly it back to you with just forward stick...

I also have the same landing pad and usually it lands spot on. I say usually, because every once in a while, precision landing seems way off. However, that may well be my fault, in that I may have moved off before giving the Mavic enough time to visually mark the take off spot.

I too ordered these cases from Ali Express and received them in about 10 days (to the UK). Something got screwed up along the way and I only received the Mavic case without the RC case, but I contacted them on the website and they rectified it immediately. Ali Express does have good protection...

You are right: "whats the point of having a UK DJI department".. If the struggling retailers are going through the local UK rep, and the UK rep is unaware that Maplins are able to deliver, then he and the retailers are as useless as each other.

Agreed, all adjustment settings should be available prior to flight. In practice however, Tripod mode is calibrated well so no real need to adjust. I suppose you could just hover in a safe place and height and make the adjustments that way.
