Combined Gimbal Cover/Gimbal Lock?

Two Questions Here: #1 Unless I convert my Gimbal Cover to a sun shield, I can't see myself using it in flight. Am I missing something? #2 Has anyone thought about lining the inside of the clear gimbal cover with some soft foam to lock the gimbal in place for security during transit, thus eliminating the need for the funky Gimbal Lock that no one seems to care for?

No. I don't think DJI intended it to be used in flight. It's main purpose is to protect the camera when the Mavic is not in use.

I went ahead and created a combination gimbal lock and camera cover. I don't use the clear cover for flying, so I had no concern about damaging the inside with adhesive residue. The photos below will show the end result which does not stress the camera in anyway and secures the gimbal from unwanted movement during transportation.
