It's a family fun selfie+ camera/drone as opposed to the almost pro MP.

At 300 g ... tiny!

Controller NOT included. Need to add that or get the Fly More kit.

Range limits depending on where you are
2.412 - 2.462 GHz (unobstructed, free of interference)
FCC: 1.2 mi (2 km); CE: 0.3 mi (500 m); SRRC: 0.3 mi (500 m)
5.745 - 5.825 GHz (unobstructed, free of interference)
FCC: 1.2 mi (2 km); CE: 0.18 mi (300 m); SRRC: 0.7 mi (1.2 km)

Seems to have been simplified greatly - which is likely a good thing.

Designed with hand launch and catch in mind.

My thoughts on this is, should of been more like $399, battery life is probably like 10 minutes, definitely not a Mavic killer, the Mavic while bigger still isn't huge and it can do all the stuff this drone can do minus the hand gesture control and some of the automated scenes. Range sucks on it, only a top speed of 31mph, while its ok for some windy conditions IDK if I would trust it to much, wouldn't fly it in of winds above 15mph in my opinion.

1080p at 30 FPS, no 2k, or 4k so no future proof, and How the heck are companies going to mount ND filters to that camera..

Based on Wh/g, the max endurance will be about 16 minutes 12-14 more typical.
Assumes the props aren't undersized.

Well, i am quite disappointed with the Spark. Poor battery life, so so camera and very expensive for a toy: can't imagine using it without the controller (800€ combo).
Indeed Mavic is another class.

Does have nice looking 3D infrared obstacle avoidance...

Think they'll add the extra flight modes onto the mavic in future firmware update?

Yeah... Forward flight only, although it took me a while to be sure of that. I think that's a poor choice for the market it is targeting. It really needs OA in all directions for the selfie crowd.

No. 4 k refers to width. 4096 x 2160 => 4k
1080p refers to height. 1920 x 1080 => 2K
Sorry that's not correct.

2K resolution - Wikipedia
"Occasionally, 1080p (Full HD or FHD) has been included into the 2K resolution definition. Although 1920x1080 could be considered as having a horizontal resolution of approximately 2,000 pixels, most media, including web content and books on video production, cinema references and definitions, define 1080p and 2K resolutions as separate definitions and not the same."

You're deep in quibble land. 1080p existed long before the whole "k" notion came about. 1920 v. 2048 is not a noticeable difference.

4K is wrt to width. 4096 pixels wide = 4k.

1080p is with respect to height. The camera is still 1920 pix wide which is equivalent enough to what 2k would have been if that notion ("k") existed at the time.

You can quibble with definitions you find on the web.

But the numbers are the numbers are the numbers - and in photographic or display terms there is no noticeable difference. And that is all that counts.

"k" stands for "thousand" and 1920 is obviously very close to 2000

The whole 2K thing got lost in the murk. What most folks perceive as 2K is really 2.7K... it's just that since 4K is easy to see/think, then 2.7K just kinda morphed into 2K for convenience's sake.

What was this thread about?

Perhaps more important, but lost in the "2k" vs "4k" discussion, is that 4k is 4x as many pixels as 1080p, because it's twice the number of pixels on both dimensions.
