Mavic Lens Hood Gimbal Lock Protective Cover for For DJI Mavic pro lock dome | eBay

does anyone have this or can recommend something similar, better?

I just learned how to use the stock gimbal lock:

1. Hold the MP in the one hand and hold with the nose pointing straight up. Then tilt slightly back.

2. Slip the gimbal lock into place most of the way down.

3. Tilt the MP perfectly vertical.

4. Gently shake the MP and/or wiggle the gimbal lock.

5. It all lines up. Push into place.

Practice the above a few times and it will become quite easy and natural.

And I leave the original rubber cover on the gimbal cover.

Ive had lots of practice, and know the method.
My lens has a habit of turning slightly to the right on shutdown, and staying there.
is only perfectly straight when powered up.
Just a quirk, but it makes Step 5 harder than it should be.

If not lined up properly and you push down you kind of squash the whole assembly as you know.

Its not that big a deal. id just like to improve on it

like the one a the bottom of the page? ;)

Reminds of those commercials showing people having all kinds of problems peeling a boiled egg - until they fork out cash for a space wasting useless widget... (add salt to the water - helps make the egg very easy to peel).

Instead of doing it wrong, do it right, save money and plastic.

(I'm not pissed at people who make and promote such gadgets - there's just not much need for this one IMO).

Sometimes mine is cocked to the side too.
Just wiggle the lock toward the tab under the lens or urge it over with a finger. Really no issue.

Just ordered a red gimbal lock ( 3D printed) from aero3D, in the U.K. $17, saw a demo on utube, makes it look easy & protects the lens, I to hate fiddling with the stock lock
