Hey guys there's a few accessories that I found on amazon and wanted to see what y'all think about them!

1) I've always used a UV filter for all my DSLR lenses and I'd prefer to use one on the Mavic as well. The one I linked is poorly rated; if anyone has one they recommend that would be awesome :)!

2) Has anyone used these leg extenders? It is a hassle carrying around a landing pad all the time and isn't realistic on uneven terrain during hikes. I always want something that will prevent the sensors & air vents when landing near snow/sand/etc. Do you think these extenders will affect the antennas and/or any electronic componment in the Mavic?

3) I'm really liking the idea of having a matte black sun hood that is open which allows air to flow towards the vents; however, this specific produce is ~$20 which to me is kind of outrageous...

4) Do you find this necessary? I don't think the joysticks are that fragile on the RC.

Oh sweet is this the one you were talking about? The picture of the product clearly says "ND 64" but the product says UV filter; I guess I should trust the product title rather than the image huh?

EDIT:
hmmm I found another one on their website but a little bit cheaper...whats the difference?

I have the leg extenders and I think they are worth it. The Mavic flies just fine with them on and they don't feel like they would fall off. Definitely helps if you are around wet grass and what not. They are made of pretty heavy duty plastic so they won't create any type of electro magnetic interference.

And maybe prop guards for flying indoors,

Hey guys, I went a little accessory crazy and I have just about everything that is easily available. First off I will say that I have no affiliation with any company that makes any accessories, this is just my personal experience.

As for the leg extensions, I have two sets, I prefer the polar pro set from bhphotovideo.com they seem more aerodynamic and give a wider base than the more common ones on amazon. They won't work with the clip on prop guards though, the amazon ones will.

As for the prop guards, they work, but have limitations. They will show up on video when you are turning at full speed, and they offer no protection from hitting something above you. I am sure they don't help aerodynamics and therefore battery life, but I haven't tested anything. Also note that you need to remove the props to get them on.

One of my favorites is the sun shade I got from f stop labs. It replaces the clear gimbal cover which causes a lot of glare, while still offering some protection for the camera and gimbal. Works well.

I also got the MavMount so that I could use my tablet, this is by far the best option if you want to use a screen bigger than the Mavic remote will allow. There are lots of cheaper options out there, and for $60 I expected a lot from the MavMount, and it didn't let me down. It is built solid and works perfect.

Speaking of tablets, I can highly recommended the Nvidia Shield if your looking for a dedicated display, has HDMI out and lots of power, runs dji go4 without a hitch.

The last thing I will mention in the parabolic antenna reflectors. I can't say whether they truly extend the range or not, but they seem to help, as long as you are actually pointing in the direction of the aircraft. Get the black ones and not the white ones, they will cost about $4 or $5 more, but they match the remote and look much better.

Feel free to ask about anything else you can think of, I have probably bought it or at least considered it. Hopefully this helps.

Ok talk to me about the shield. I have not used mine because everyone says they are having issues. I'm pretty confident in my iOS device. Not a single disconnect or problem at all. What has been your experience with the shield?

The Shield has been working perfect for me. I did notice that I had a few USB cables that didn't seem to works and the one I am using now only works in one direction (I always have to plug the same end into the controller) the micro USB on the side of the remote seems to work better than the one on the bottom, but I have used both. Make sure to turn on the aircraft first, then the remote, then plug in the tablet with the dji app CLOSED, let the app launch automatically. Doing this works every time for me. I have never had the app crash or disconnect in flight. The Shield is also better than my laptop (admittedly not a great laptop) for viewing and editing the videos I shoot with the Mavic, it is build for gaming so it has decent graphics processing capabilities. The battery leaves a little to be desired, but it will outlast the remote when both are fully charged so it is not an issue for a dedicated display.

I already own a shield. I loved it for use with my Phantom. It is a phenominal tablet in my opinion. I have not had any issues with it with the Phantom. I plan on trying it with the Mavic when I get some time. I was a little apprehensive because of some of the reports about disconnects. I feel a little better having read your experience. It is the perfect size for use with the Mavic. I'm going to test it out and see how it goes. I will record the experience.

I love the fact that I can take the card out of the bird, place the card on the shield and play the 4K video direct or play it on my TV. No hitches or hiccups because the processor is fast. The battery life is terrible but I only use it when flying or watching video. With 3 batteries I will have plenty of time with the shield. After owning the Mavic since early November I'm pretty confident that I don't have any of the issues reported at the release. Going to get a Mavic mount, if my tests are positive and start flying with the shield exclusively.

UPDATE: On my first flight after writing that last post about not having any issues I had DJIGo4 crash on me during a flight. Guess i jinxed myself. It was a bit scary, but I just unplugged the USB from the tablet, plugged it back in which relaunched the app, and it reconnected within a few seconds. The remote never lost signal so it didn't RTH. Really wasn't a big deal, I just thought I would report it.

Good to know

I originally bought the bumpers. After flying the mavic I returned them unused. The mavic is so easy to fly and is rock solid on the controls. I found them unnecessary.
