Hello,
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Mavic Pilots forum.
I hope that you will be able to use the forum to further your safety knowledge and for the exchange of innovative ideas and as a resource for
current developments in Mavic quadcopter’s. Read the manual a few times and watch lots of Youtube videos on the subject to give yourself a good start.
Enjoy! Thumbswayup

Welcome to MavicPilots!

Learn this first.
Set your RTH altitude to a setting greater than any trees or buildings around the area that you are flying
Do not fly backwards with the expectation that the Mavic Pro will avoid any obstacles. It wont. There are no obstacle avoidance sensors on the rear.
Always fly with a fully charged battery.
Never use the AutoTakeoff option
Understand the use of the radar screen and how one can use the Arrow to fly thier Mavic back to the home point by observing the direction of the arrow in relation to the home point.
Start out flying in an open area and practicing stick movements while you observe what the Mavic is doing so that you get the hand to eye coordination
Dont fly indoors for your first flight no matter how tempted you are. In low light you can crash it into walls, furniture, etc.
Always make sure to take off while not near vehicles or other large metal objects (even metal roof's or balconies)
Do not take off over large concrete areas that are potentially laden with lots of metal rebar right under the surface.
If encountering heavy wind conditions while flying away from your home point and finding that the wind is causing your Mavic to struggle to return while manually flying switch into sport mode as that will allow the Mavic to not only fly faster towards the intended direction, but also allow the pitch angle to be more aggressive and allow the Mavic to cut through the wind better.
Remember to fly at 400 feet or less and in high wind conditions the wind can push your Mavic higher than that altitude.

Maintain LOS (line of sight) flying as it is an FAA guideline and also will give you more confidence if you can see your Mavic.

Thats just a quick brain dump to help .
