hello everyone,

I'm not and expert at all :p let's start with this statement ahahah

Since i'll be in Shanghai in 1 week i'd LOVE to take some pictures/video of the BUND by night ..

since i'm not conscious of what could go wrong in a night scene (sensors... )
could you suggest me what i should consider? what settings should i have?

OBVIOUSLY i'm not gonna just fly around , i mean i will not just go KM around! what i'd like basically to do is take off.. take some pictures and a short aerial video and then land the drone !

I'm doing an early flight Ill show you what I learn. It should still be dark.

Man... No good.. Like.. Im a newb and it was like -13....

Ok so iso 200 - 1/60 sec - d log - -2-2-2 - sunny wb

I wish i could do more but it was so cold...

This is pure embarrassing. I suck at editing and the picture is just bad. Original plus shaming edit.

I'm no expert but tried a night flight and some quick photo's, I was struggling to get the focus right as the feed to the phone was grainy, I used ISO 100-200-400 and played with a few shutter speeds starting at 2 sec - 8 sec, pics aren't great but ok for a first try.

Mavic had to be manually landed as RTH was off by a few meters and I had to negotiate trees and power lines to the house. But apart from that it flew and hovered perfect and was clearly visible with those led's

@devin120

I actually think the original is quite nice. I made a quick edit of it in lightroom/ps (hope that is ok!) just to clean up the noise a bit and level the horizon. Lightroom settings in the screen shot, ran it through Imagenomic Noiseware Pro on default settings after a full-size export from LR.

For Lightroom, start with the Auto button then tweak to your liking with the sliders. Best way to learn. To me, it almost always over exposes so I bring that back down usually. Personal preference rules the day ;)

If you don't already own Lightroom, you can get the photographers Creative Cloud package from Adobe for $10/mo. Gets you LR and Photoshop. Then you can explore the world of Photoshop plugins like Noiseware. The money never seems to stop flowing out, need more flowing in!

I'm in the same boat - want to get some night footage. I took a few pics whilst playing around with the ISO / shutter speed - these were taken with ISO 100 and 1.3 or 1.6 sec exp.

I can't get anything decent with the video yet...

Where did you get that information? There is a varying amount of information on this depending on where you live, and also what website you look at. However, it appears to be a very gray area. I don't see any outright law against flying at night. Could be wrong though.

Agree or confirm?!? Not trying to be an A$$, but I will also need to confirm. As far as I have read from Transport Canada, and FAA, it isn't illegal. Suggested against, yes, but not illegal.
I don't know if I'll ever fly at night, but if I ever do, I'll look even more closely, but as far as I can read into it, it is not illegal in Canada and US.
