The Nuzzle pet tracker looks like a potential good fit for a Mavic GPS tracker.

• Collar can be submerged in 10 feet of water for up to 30 minutes
• 2 removable/rechargeable batteries
• Battery lasts up to 5 days
• Location accuracy of up to 10 feet
• Location updates as quickly as 1 minute
• Dual-band 3G cell connectivity
• Bluetooth smart-enabled
• Works in US only
• Free iOS/Android app
• $189 and no monthly fee

The size of the GPS unit is not mentioned, but it appears to be no larger than other commonly used GPS trackers. It's available for pre-order now and is supposed to start shipping next month (November 2016).

Only any good if you are flying within cellular phone coverage area.

You got it. I also own a Marco Polo for flying in locations that have no/spotty cell coverage.

A: Nada. Zip. Zero. Other collars charge up to $15 per month to keep track of your loved ones. With Nuzzle, we've built the cellular service fee into the initial cost of the device itself, so you'll never have a monthly fee using our collars.

Interesting. Trackimo includes service in the purchase price, but only for a year. Including service for life is obviously a much better deal if you have it for a long time.

Yep -- that's what I was thinking. I have a Trackimo now (the 2G model) and am going to give this one a shot before upgrading to the Trackimo 3G. It appears to be smaller too, so that might make it a better fit for the Mavic.

I'm in for a preorder as well. The included year of service is just about up on my Trackimo, so it's good timing to give the nuzzle a shot.

Currently the device I have under development has gsm, gps, lbs, beacon, flares, a life raft and a microwave built in.... just need to miniaturise it a little
