startup help

hi guys recived my dron just the other day,
i just unbox everything
read all manuals
and charging battery (rc, smart)
my assitence softwer dowloaded all ready
and so as the firmware dowloaded and ready to be deployed

so basicly i would be updating FW ones its all up and charged.

before i started i looked with the app all around and didnt see
any calibration requierd.
now i have read in manuals only calibrate when asked to ....

i like to mantion my drone made his way from china to a
LA California vendor, bought there, and took a road treap to san fransisco at a UPS van.
then it took a flight to holland had a 9 houers rest and took onather 5 hour flight to Israel.

so my qustion is [emoji3]
do i need to calibrate anything?
IMU, gimbal, compas, vision system ?

Opinions on this are strong and differ, I did not calibrate mine, other calibrate often. It is a personal decision I feel unless you are instructed to.

Yes it can be intimidating, read the .PDF manual and do a search on yutube for mavic instructional videos, there is a lot out there that is not covered in the manual.

I'll calibrate when it asks me. To date it hasn't. I have a bunch of flights flights in(40+) and everything is 5 by 5. I helped a friend set up his MP and it hasn't asked for calibration yet either and flies like a dream.

Understand and learn all the basics first and foremost.
then,If you're in a rush to fly the drone do it in beginners mode first to get the feel of the thing.
After powering up for the 1st time considering all that travel by the drone, if it report the right location on the
map where you are you're good to go.....BUT, it wouldn't hurt to calibrate the compass for safety measure.
Just my 2 cents and I am not an expert.

Also, for now I will ignore SW update....from what I red from here there are some flyers here that reverted back to previous FW. Got mine last week and flying it w/ the FW it shipped w/ and so far I have no problem.

It depends on what app and what device you are using, the latest firmware does not work well with the Litchi app (sp?) and not does work well with some devices running Android 7.0 nougat. What device are you planning on using?

I am running the latest firmware and you can always roll back if you want.

I have just recived it so I am starting with what I have and used on my p3p which is Samsung Galaxy note 4. Android 6
I am thinking about K1

but I really want to keep this setup portable so i might stick with phones.

I had my 'big' machine and gave it for a much smaller one not only to start building around it a starsheep

I really really wanted the p4p, and didn't sleep for a month, thinkning what should I get.
finelly I made up my mind. i am going for portabilty and abonding the quility quest......

Android 6 on your note should be fine I personally would do the update but it is your drone; I have a Shield k1 and love it, just make sure you keep it on marshmallow.

and i had no errot, everything worked flowlesly . only complain phone battery drain. but amazing machin !!
