Tap to focus doesn't work

I do not have the green focus box shown on my ipad mini2 and when I tap the screen nothing happens. Could it be turned off somewhere?

It can be by switching into Manual Focus mode. Did you do that?

I tried switching between manual and auto with no change. I should mention I have only had the drone for a couple weeks and am trying to learn my way around it. I don't think the green focus box has ever shown up. Could it be a flaw?

I now have the focus box and it seems to be working. The box is white instead of green. I just experimented with pushing a lot of buttons and it suddenly appeared. I am suspecting the problem may be with the cord I bought to connect the I-pad mini2 to the controller. For awhile the I-pad disconnected and I had to unplug and replug. Thank you for trying to help.
