It doesnt matter how responsible we are, how safe we fly, or that we adhere to the law, we will lose our right to fly because of schmucks like this who not only fly illegally - but who hit and run leaving the rest of us to fend for ourselves. Stop doing dumb stuff. Stop acting like its not your fault. Stop making lame excuses (it was that guys kid!... (See other thread)) If You're too dumb and irresponsible to fly then sell your drone and go buy a game boy.

You completely missed the point. Its not about the drone - its about the pilots who dont give a crap.

An ungrounded drone hit a power line and did this? From the picture, whatever the object was grounded itself between the high tension wire(s) and the ground wire. I'm not aware of a drone larger enough to cover that span since those wires are typically separated by 4 feet or more and the ground wire runs on the bottom.
