I didn't have any problem this past spring on the west coast and La Fortuna . I just made sure to not fly over anyone and was respectful to fly at a height where the noise didn't bother anyone.
I think what he is saying is that how does the APP know you called? Will the NFZ then disappear once you call and the app wont "auto land in the water" since it still thinks it is a NFZ, even though you called?
Not sure if this adds any value... but I use an original ONEPLUS ONE(Android phone) which runs off the CyanogenMod and it has never crashed with any of the DJI GO app versions. I have experienced a disconnect once or twice though with the older firmware, but havent had enough time with the new...
I had a small drift occur where it was more annoying knowing that I could tell it was drifting rather than the drift having any affect on performance. After packing it up, I found a hairline fracture on one of the props. Pressed it in a little and a chunk of the prop just cracked right off...
I think the main question is that WHERE ON THE MAVIC do you hand catch?
For me I just grab the front landing leg while it is right in front of me and hold the stick down to turn it off while i have it grabbed. I have heard other catch it from its belly? Seems overly complicated with those sensors.
Friend of mine just crashed his mavic. He lost GPS signal and instead of brining it back home, he kept flying... 30+ mph winds and one gust slammed it against a cliff.
I have been very risk adverse when flying my mavic which is probably why I have not crashed it yet. :)
About to head to iceland tomorrow. Here is my partial pack setup. Mavic on the very top. It is a Tenba Shootout 24L. It is an amazing backpack where it is actually quite compact yet somehow fits SO MUCH STUFF.

I did decalgirl, it came out amazing. It also seems to cover more of the controller and drone than icarbon. It took over an hour to put it all on, but everything fit perfectly.
I think the #1 problem is that once you buy the mavic, you are tempted to purchase so many other accessories it is adding up the cost of another mavic! I can't stop buying **** for it!
Took 8 business days to get from step 3 to 4 for me. I just placed another order on 1/9/2016 and still on step 3. So it looks like it is continuing to be around 8 business. days.
