Any good spots to fly in Metrowest MA?

    M2P distance gains

3000 feet through trees. Without, only 2000 feet. I can get 6000 or 9000 feet in wide open areas but from my house and through the trees, wondering if the M2P is better.

    M2P distance gains

Has anyone upgraded from the MA to M2P? I got a modded MA with a Raptor XR on 4W 5.8 GHz amps. Just wondering how the distances compare in crowded areas.

    4Hawks Antenna Installation

I have both the 4hawks Raptor SR and XR. It works great in areas where you have visual line of sight. If you’re lower in elevation and around a lot of trees, nothing will help you.

    Mavic Air - boost options

Total range was 3000 feet in 1 direction, 5000 feet in another. I ordered a Raptor XR. That has to be better.

    Mavic Air - boost options

I did a test flight today with 4hawks Raptor SR boosted with a pair of dual band sunhans amps. The red blinking light was on and I got no difference in range compared to the non-boosted test. I was flying in a heavily wooded area but I’m stumped why there wasn’t any difference in range.

    Mavic Air - boost options

I have the 4Hawks Raptor SR. I've seen a slight increase in range in heavily wooded areas. Open areas its been a big boost. The Raptor just can't cut through the trees. I have a pair of Sunhans 2W dual band 33 dbm amps coming today that I'll be testing as soon as the weather improves.

My amp/antenna build and distance test (I will update thread as i go)

Weird because I have previously flown in 5.8 GHz over 10K feet from more open areas. I’ll try some tests in 2.8 and report back.

My amp/antenna build and distance test (I will update thread as i go)

Its not really interference from other houses. I'm flying in 5.8 and when I go more than 3000 feet, the signal cuts out. Here are my range tests plotted on a map. Its more interference from trees than wifi I think.

My amp/antenna build and distance test (I will update thread as i go)

I suppose I could get the XR and boost it. I think it will take trial and error to see how I can push the signal through the deep trees. I have gotten 10K+ feet in open areas so I've come to the conclusion that its the area around my house that's the problem.

Battery, charging and mounting solution for my incoming amps?

How did it go? Amp help at all?

My amp/antenna build and distance test (I will update thread as i go)

Anyone have an idea which setup would give me more distance? 4hawks Raptor SR with 2W Sunhans Dual band boosters or just a 4hawks Raptor XR? I have the SR on my Mavic Air RC and flying from a low lying area with trees all around me, I get about 3000 feet before the signal cuts out.

    MA RC moded

I was able to test the 4hawks SR today. Around my house where I’m lower in elevation than the surrounding I can go around 3000 feet where I was previously getting 2500 feet. In another area by my office I was getting 7000 feet or more. It was too windy to try more. Video feed is more stable...

    MA RC moded

Do you think an amplifier help cut through the trees?

    MA RC moded

I got the Raptor SR installed this week. Which way do you connect the wires? Parallel or crossed? I have mine crossed but the range hasn’t really been any better. Granted I’m at the bottom of a valley with trees all around me. Only 2800 feet today, same distance as before.
