I use tBeacon. It works brilliantly, but requires a handheld radio. Total costs are still low however. Mine has the onboard GPS receiver. I never fly without it, knowing that whatever happens I can prompt it to give me the exact latitude and longitude of its location.

No I didn't strip the threads. I had just purchased it and was trying it out. I had to tighten the thumbscrew a lot to keep the 7.85" CS in position. When I subsequently released the thumbscrew, it left the spindle in place! And yes, I did use the supplied screwdriver and spoilt the thumbscrew...
The adjustment screw is a very poor mechanism. Agreed that the screwdriver damages the screw immediately. Also, the screw on mine unthreaded itself from the spindle, leaving the spindle in place, rendering the device completely useless. I returned it for a refund and got the Mavmount instead...
