Look at the map and the runway. Not the same heading, not centered

FAA restrictions (400 ft altittude, local park policies, etc..) any reason to still get a Mavic?

I believe part 107 still applies to all UAV's operating in US airspace... 107.51 Operating limitations for small unmanned aircraft. A remote pilot in command and the person manipulating the flight controls of the small unmanned aircraft system must comply with all of the following operating...

2 questions about finding and filming an apex ...

For something as big as a peak, I personally wouldn't use any 'mode', I would use the classic cinematic techniques like the reveal, the climbing turns, sideways flight, etc. YouTube is a awesome resource for this, just search for "Mavic 4K Cinematic" and watch the floodgates open. Simple tips...

Warning: Motor current error. Check your propellers and fly with care

If I recall, it's on the right hand side of the controller display. I would compare the rpm you see with someone who isn't getting the error. I'm at work with no access to mine for another 8 hours or so. I suggest swapping out the props to eliminate sources of high current draw. It is...

    Bird Attack

Given the brief glimpse and the behavior of the bird, I am going to guess you were duelling with a Leucistic Red Tailed Hawk. It is a relatively rare genetic mutation of the very common Red Tailed Hawk except they lack most the usual pigment.

Warning: Motor current error. Check your propellers and fly with care

I'm the some more technical replies will follow but this error means that one or more of your motors is working harder than the monitoring parameter allows for hence the error. Can you answer the following? If you manually spin each motor housing, do they all feel the same in terms of...

Sending my Mavic back before even flying it

An excellent point. That's why I treat mine like a real aircraft removable and tied a 1 foot long red ribbon to mine. No missing that!

Come on down to the Sunshine Coast, nothing but blue skies and cool breezes :)

No Drone "incidents" while B.C. burns

They are using drones at the request of some local governments to film and assess damage in areas like Ashcroft/Cache Creek. Lots of opportunities to get some some good press for a change. Let's hope the knuckleheads keep staying home. I think it's going to be a long, smoky summer - time to...

    Caught part of the Rainbow

Nice capture! Just the fact that you had the presence of mind to get the shot and followed through is awesome. Too many times I've said, "Gee, shoulda....". Well done.

Will the Mavic auto-land within a 5 mile radius of a seaplane base?

Check out the DJI Geo map. I believe this is the same database DJI uses for geo-fencing your drone so you would get an apples to apples check.
