Thanks. I agree, this does seem the most likely cause. Just a bit surprised I didn't receive a compass warning at start-up, it only occurred immediately after take-off. Lesson learned. Don't launch atop metal objects!

I would have suspected the same thing - if it's an issue to see a compass warning on start-up. Not after take-off.
