    Flight Review

I'm curious why you say "non-corporate". As far as I know, the rules are no different for corporate or private pilots, do you change your flight review requirements if someone says they're doing it for corporate reasons?

    Flight Review

It's been a few months but you're supposed to prepare a site survey of some type. I visited the location before the review and marked down everything in the area including estimated heights of main obstacles.

    Flight Review

You are allowed to fly anywhere where you have permission. Why don't you just ask your flight reviewer where they would like to do it and before the review, ask them if you can proceed as if you have permission? Then the onus is on them. My reviewer set the location and specifically told me I...

    Advanced RPAS review (Canada)

To me that seems reasonable. I would contact a flight reviewer and just make sure before you show up. Having it registered is huge because it demonstrates to the reviewer you take the rules seriously.

Droning in Toronto is illegal for any purpose?

If you got caught or more importantly, if there was an incident, you'd definitely get fined. There are actually special rules too about bringing a drone over the border. You may want to google that. Sorry, it's been a long time since I looked at those rules.

What are your thoughts on the newly released rules by the FAA?

It would kill the hobby for me. Really hoping it doesn't happen but we seem to have followed the Americans on just about everything else so I have no doubt it's coming.

RPAS Safety Assurance - DJI Products

Cool stuff. You should totally create some courseware based on your ability to pass so easily. Maybe market it as such. Oh and yes, I have real uses for the drone for my job. I can see most of what I work on but without climbing on a roof or getting on a scissor lift, there are gaps a drone can...

Civil (specialized in structural). Never insulted. I was being genuine that maybe you're extremely intelligent. Heard all the eng jokes over the years. Unfortunately, they're all accurate.

"...it may be that you have difficulty learning things..." My friend, I have an engineering degree in applied science from Waterloo. You ain't getting through courses in 3D calculus, differential equations, thermodynamics, etc., etc., at Canada's toughest STEM school with a learning disability...

RPAS Safety Assurance - DJI Products

I make a lot of money tbh and this set me back big time and yes, I likely lost some work because of it. My clients go elsewhere if they can't get quick service from me. In any case, no matter how you look at it, I could have put those hours into extra work and made more money and if you're not...

You'll find different opinions on these and other forums but my opinion is it is pretty definitive sub-250g drones are exempt from the CAR's except for the part the other poster already provided. Just don't be stupid basically. And that would allow you to fly over crowds if you know what...

RPAS Safety Assurance - DJI Products

I agree with everything here except the inexpensive part. I estimate I put about 200 hours into getting my advanced certification all-in. My time ain't free and that was a ludicrous amount of effort. The basic cert was pretty easy and "almost free". sure.

RPAS Safety Assurance - DJI Products

There are a few posts on the subject. I wouldn't bother with it. The parachute systems that they will accept are thousands of dollars. And what's the point? If you're 100m in the air and 5m away from someone horizontally (or not), do you really think you or an observers can tell? You're...

RPAS Safety Assurance - DJI Products

The stupid thing about this rule (flying over people) and this is classic Canadian bureaucratic claptrap, is you're allowed to fly 120m high but 5m away from people with an advanced certificate. Bust out your Pythagoras and you'll find that's 120.1m from someone below. If there's an incident or...

    Canada, flying in controlled airspace

I know you don't want to hear this but adding strobes puts the Mavic Mini over 250g changing everything about it (rules-wise).
