UK Rules are too complex... a total mess to fly

I agree there are ambiguities with the rules but one way of looking at it is that if someone has good intentions by studying them and obtaining the correct licenses and can still be confused then there isn’t much hope of a none enthusiast being any more knowledgable. In other words apply common...

Landing by grabbing drone with your hand: Is it bad for the drone?

Glad for all the comments on this- will study closely.

Landing by grabbing drone with your hand: Is it bad for the drone?

Accept most of your comments - mainly cos i was unclear about exactly what circumstance ‘fighting’ it were! Having caught the props in unusual circumstances and had a good gash as a result- i tend to use a well paced helipad and RTH every time now.

Landing by grabbing drone with your hand: Is it bad for the drone?

I know this is popular but i have deep reservations. 1) you risk serious injury if the props get you (done it!) 2) if you ‘fight’ against its wishes to keep hovering you risk burning the motors out and trashing it completely (done this too!)

Don’t Let Your Friends to Fly Your Drone

Obvious really! Wouldn’t dream of it unless under closer supervision than average ‘L’ car driver - whos ‘instruction’ is often appalling.

Feeling Like A Criminal when flying...

And the best way to obscure sunlight and glare on your device is to bury your head under a cloth. However, I’ve never tried it - for obvious reasons!

    Hello from japan

Brilliant! You’re a ‘natural’ - keep it up!

Had my first crazy neighbor experience...

Guess most of us got similar stories! Mine is flying over my static caravan site (only about 10 vans there) I heard what seemed like wolves howling about 100 yrds away and sure enough the guy who owned them approached and challenged me to say it was 'encroaching on his privacy' Translation: 'it...

Home Location off by a few feet

Am intrigued about switching airplane mode on and having checked what this does find, amongst other things, it turns the phone's GPS off. Do i take it this has nothing to do with the GPS system the drone uses and is therefore safe to do?

Who says drone deliveries not viable?

Absolutely- i reckon there will be a surge in air rifle and catapult sales with a new type of 'hunting' being born!

    Whitby and its fishing boats

Very nice! I too am still at the novice stage but know Whitby well. Can you tell me a) roughly where you launched from and b) your video resolution settings. Am still finding feet with latter and discovering the capabilities of the drone camera far outweigh my creaking computer - but am not...

    Another battery question.

How to store batteries/etc between uses for several weeks?

Will add to the advice given. Lithium batteries do not like being stored totally discharged OR charged. If you fully charge and decide not to fly that day then no problem as the 'intelligent' function will look after you and drain a few %. If you own an electric bike and find the same - ie not...

    Disaster

If you haven't already bought i'd recommend Argos. Bought mine from there (on 6 months interest free) trashed it same day (to embarrased to furnish the details) and got it replaced from another Argos same day- no questions, inquisitions. Reckon that service takes some beating!

Eastbourne | White Cliffs and Lighthouses

Very nice! Still very much an amateur and somewhat hesitant at going over the sea, let alone over the cliffs - but the more footage i see like this the closer am getting to taking the plunge (oops!)
