17bdi antenna mod, anyone seen/tried this?

The higher gain the new aerial is, the narrower the radio beam is as that's how you obtain signal gain from an aerial, instead of 360 deg transmission you make it, maybe 10 deg so you need to remember to move the control box more accurately so the aerial is pointing at the drone ( Sorry if you knew that already )
I haven't tried the aerial as, being old, your eyesight goes a bit and after a mile or so I cannot keep 'visual contact' with the drone using the standard aerials.

Can't see since link is broken, but a real 17dBi antenna for 2.4GHz would be very large and as pointed out require extreme aiming accuracy within a few degrees to actually benefit anything from it.

Its flat panels antennas and it's clearly stated 5.8 Ghz. Worth a try for that price. Two Alfa 5.8Ghz/2.4Ghz Flat panels antennas already cost $40.
