Hey guys,

Bought my Mavic Air about a week ago. Had a great time. In an urban area I am looking for more range and am considering the 4 Hawks Raptor XR antenna. I have seen the installation process and can see how tough it is. Anyone able to tell me if it is a safe process or if there is someone who is trustworthy that I can give my controller and the antenna to and they can install if for me? Would love to use a specialist who can install it for me if possible. Would appreciate some feedback. I would also like to know if there are and other alternatives that have a similar effect, easier installation and similar price. Looking forward to your replies! Many thanks in advance!

why not just upgrade to a m2p or a mpp?

Just bought the mavic air.. how do I even return it? Can you even return it?

The installation is not hard but tedious. I would not recommend that you attempt it unless you are good with electronics. Also, know that once you modify your remote, it is no longer covered under the warranty.

Another thing to consider is, regardless of rather you are a hobbyist or Part 107 Pilot, you are legally required to fly VLOS. So, I wouldn't do the mod, to begin with. :)

Leaving VLOS out of the equation, I have built 4 computers so far, do you think it is doable (the installation)? Warranty isn't a worry as I have insurance.

Most likely. I have installed them for P4 users. The MA controller is smaller and most likely more tedious than the P4 install. But, yes doable. If you decide to proceed, just take your time.

I intend on buying it, is there any chance that I could contact you if I am in need of help or is this something that you would be unwilling to do?

Yes, sure. You're welcome to contact me

There are several YouTube videos that show the step-by-step process. It’s a little nerve racking forcing the plastic parts apart.

I presume the forum is the best way? You don't happen to use social media or whatsapp (that you are willing to share)?

I did this mod earlier in the year. I used a combination of tutorial videos. The official 4 Hawks video worked up to a point. Then I had to switch to the Alientech modification video. Their video was superior at the time. It is really not a drama to do. I had a 6 pack while I did it.

anyone who has used their mavic air with an ipad as monitor and using the raptor xr? i just dont see how its going to work.

I was dead set on finally getting the raptor xr until i saw a picture of if alongside the remote controller and the raptor xr is humongous!

I do use a tablet holder but i do not think its long enough to clear the raptor xr.

Any thoughts?
