I learned to yaw left to determine the orientation when flying fixed wings.
When flying away from you the ac will go left. And when coming toward you or will go to the right

I see why you were terrified for 36 years. Most people FLY the 747's. DRIVING a 747 is definitely not recommended. I see you are from the UK. You were driving on the left-hand side correct? Driving on the wrong side could increase your stress levels even more !!!
