Battling RC battery drain

As anyone here with an android phone knows, the phone will charge off the RC. Draining the battery so fast it is almost done after 2 full mav batteries. I saw another thread that someone attached a battery pack to their iPad mini so I thought I would do the same. I picked up a Sony xperia ultra the other day at best buy as I was tired of taking my s7 out of its case and left with a low battery when I was flying. I also bought a mophie powerstation mini for the charging portion. I am still in the process of deciding what cables to run. Going to go with something that is angled and really short so there is not a spaghetti of wires in the back. Here are pictures so far of the setup

You can't do that on android devices.

The reason the option is not in the Android version of the app is because the Android doesn't have an API for it that the app can access, but iOS does.
Most USB circuits require seeing power on the cable in order for it to activate data.
USB standards require a host device to provide at least 500mA for the target to use if it wants.

So blame Google.

I bring along a power pack to recharge the RC if starts to get low. Have not had to as yet. That's using the ChrystalSky and after three M2Z batteries of flying. Though I do usually land with at least 5 minutes fly time showing.

I could, I suppose, strap the power pack on my belt and plug it into the RC while I use it. I've seen others use similar solutions.
