Camera time issues

Can someone school me on the camrea time allotment. I am doing 17 minutes in video recording in drone and ipad memory combination, I am receiving 4 videos in 4 minute or so intervals...Is there a way to just record one event or video!? If it cant be done why do we have this configuration? Thanks in advance!

There is a file size limitation of about 4GB.
If you recorded at a lower resolution, you could record a longer time before the file size limit breaks your recording.
