If the GPS parts were faulty or removed you would see an error message on power-up. Without GPS lock your drone would lose horizontal positioning hold and will drift in the wind. RTH would also not work as the drone would not be able to set its home point.

Yes.

From your first post I would have expected the app to halt during the drone start-up process and display an error message and preventing the drone from launching.

May I ask why you don’t want GPS or has your drone’s GPS receiver failed?
