While working on a number of other new release products, including the stretched, tandem battery Mavic, I am designing a custom version of the Mavic Pro, named the Mavic Sprint, from the ground up that is designed to be 25% faster at wide open throttle than the stock Mavic. My drone will have trustworthy Mavic guts, but a completely new frame and body designed to reduce drag, and increase maximum speed. The body will have many new features never before available on a Mavic or Mavic 2, and we will be offering our own warranty and replacement plan when the drone starts selling. With speed comes increased risk, but we have you covered there. It will be sleek, fast, durable, and most important to all you posers, elegant. One more thing... since its internal components are stock Mavic, repair is very straightforward, and parts availability will be worldwide. Overseas customers will be able to order replacement parts from anywhere they want.

To get it to go faster, we will be stripping alot of the weight that the stock Mavic Pro carries, and will be using a lighter weight frame. It will run on custom made props, based on the Mavic 2 low noise props, but with higher pitch to increase maximum speed. Low speed handling will be like a Nascar, slow and sluggish off the line, but high top end. P mode wont be an option, Sport Mode only. Heck, who needs sensors anyway at 55+mph... oops did I say 55?

Im still repairing drones as my full time job, but also designing special projects in my spare time (between midnight and 6am).

Thank you to all my friends and followers. Please stay tuned for some news in the next couple of days. I think you will be very happy.

sounds like something out of fast and furious call it the mavic dash now you see it now you dont

MP or M2P batteries ?

MP batteries since they are cheaper and everyone sells them. M2 version will prob come at the end of the summer, when I can get my paws on more M2 parts for less money. The M2 version will be even faster than the MP version since I will just toss all the sensors, and heavy body mass. I will prob make custom props for the M2 version as well, longer, harder, and more bite.

I expect to beta test and crash alot on takeoff and landing until I get the aerodynamics where they need to be.

OMM, how about the Mavic Charger? Available in black only (Vins color).
you could have 3 variants with different levels of trim and outright speed the sprint, the charger ,and the downright, where the heck did it go with none disclosed specs to keep them all guessing

Good point. One frame, different bodies and props. The props will prob be made out of CF.

Are there any design scribbles or 3d models yet? Anything? As a designer but also because I'm a bit of a tech nerd, I would love to take a peek :)

All in all, it sounds like a very ambitious and interesting project. I keep my fingers crossed for you and its development!

Still working on the design in 3d along with about a dozen other projects.

Im building the design around the stock MP core board, ESC and gimbal. I might have to "fix" the gimbal in one position on the pitch axis, or the motors will overload. Not sure about that yet, maybe just disable the gimbal pitch axis and let pilots select a tilt detent that they are comfortable with on the ground before the flight.

The front grille will be alot flatter because the increased speed at cruise will force more air into the grill, which doesnt get much air on the stock Mavic anyway. Cooling will not be an issue and alot less drag too.

Yes it will have it's own crash protection. But at the speed this is going to go, not much is gonna help the gimbal if it goes in! ;)
what about using the camera from the spark because with the sort of flying you will be doing the camera would need to be more like the ones you get on a race drone just to fly FPV

I like the name Mavic Sprint. Do you know if DJI has a copyright on the Mavic name? I could see their lawyers demanding you change the name or give them a piece of the proceeds.
