Which mode does the Mavic operate with? Just picked up this X5SW. Working on muscle memory before picking up a Mav.

Out of the box it's mode 2, but you can change it if you want to.

Mode 1 tends to be favoured by the Asian areas - Mode 2 for the Western World.
No advantage, no disadvantage - whatever is preferred.
With the toy Mavic controller there is no difference between gimbal sticks - higher end Heli TX's need to be selected for mode since the throttle will not be sprung for self centering and is usually notched.

I also own those two, the Mavic and the Syma X5c1, older model of yours without headless. I love that syma man I've had mine for years so many crashes and learning flights. It is an EXCELLENT learning drone.

You'll be asked to choose a mode when you register your Mavic in DJI GO.
