So I was feeling lucky and decided to hunt down my old Mavic Air I lost in November 2021. I noticed it was no longer in my DJI app and then contacted Support to get a list of all drones associated with my account. The only drone that showed up is my new Mavic Air and not my Red Lama I lost in November. I then referred back to the support chats I had with DJI on the loss of the drone and what not to be told they are not allowed to give me any information on what email address its currently linked to. I managed to get the name Andy and the domain @********ach.co.za. Am I missing something here that I would not be allowed to know what account my "late" drone is linked up with.

I am puzzled, how would a drone of that age become linked to someone else's account?
I thought that, with drones of that 'era', the only connection to a DJI account and an email address is to the account and associated email address that was used to activate the drone.

It's no problem at all ... if you find a MA1 & have or source a RC, a charger & some batteries, all you have to do in order to start flying is to install the GO4 app in the mobile device, create a DJI account & use it in the app, link up the RC towards the MA1 & you're done ... just start to fly & all is recorded on that new account with the serial from the found MA1. And if the logs are synced to the DJI cloud service ... DJI will have all info.

And we have earlier seen that DJI doesn't leave out any info about the account a specific drone records to ...

A few questions.
What’s a red “lama”?
Was there any owner information attached to the lost aircraft when it went missing?
What caused the loss?

Ahh I think you may have misunderstood my question.

I know that it is possible for anyone to fly any of the earlier drone's if they have the appropriate controller and app, I regularily swap controllers and phones used with any specific drone.

But as far as I know knew, DJI does not 'record' any information about which account/email-address is used to fly the older drones after the drone was activated. i.e. if DJI looked at the 'ownership' of any of my second hand older drones DJI would still 'see' the account details and email-address of the person who activated the drone.
DJI would/should only see my details where I had activated the drone.

So, I am curious as to how DJI know someone else is using this MA1?
That is aside from any information they may glean during sync's or updates etc.

Having thought about it they might gather some details during sync's, there is an earlier drone showing against my account that I did not activate but which I might have sync'd in my newbie days.

As I wrote earlier ... as soon as you sync the flights to the DJI cloud service DJI have info about that the drone have been used with another account + the date the flights was conducted.

So it would be easy for them to see that no new flights have been added with account A ... instead the drone generate newer flights into account B.

I got the red part. It’s the lama part that I’m missing!
Probably a nickname for his "precious" 😁

Fair enough, another reason to not sync lol

I think its the internal name of the drone as it showed up in go 4 as red Lama. Yes my details where present on the drone and I should of been wiser as I finally managed to safe up enough to get a mavic air (I am a single dad and my birthday was November 14th and I lost it Nov 3rd. This is my post on that situation Can I please get some help? I am heart Broken.... Please guys yes I know I was not smart and was out of bounds but I was just curious as to the distance possible with the Air as I had done the same journey with My parrot bebop 2 a few times.

Thats what I was hoping to get from DJI as the drone no longer was listed in my DJI app and well heck I was feeling lucky and decided to go drone hunting for my lil guy and one thing lead to another and then on the support chat I asked about the drone with my serial number as listed in the transcript from Nov 3rd and was informed this drone is not linked to your account it is linked to andy@********ach.co.za. I then asked to please have this information as this is my equipment and was then told they are not allowed to provide me with this information. Then got told specialists are looking into the matter and then got a stupid bloody stock email response for a drone fly away warranty process
