Would like to share this article, on why Dji is now making the best action camera on the market!

This story is incorrect. Colin Quinn went to DJI when they were small and offered to create and head up DJI in North America. He then made a deal with GoPro to use their camera. However, Frank Wang (owns DJI) never agreed to this and when he found out, did not sign off on the agreement. GoPro was under the impression that Quinn had the ability to complete such a deal but he did not. So there was never a deal in place. They were never actually partners.

The writer of the article either got the facts wrong, or more likely, changed the truth just to make the article more interesting.

BTW - Quinn is quite the interesting character. He also went on too head up 3DR, a done manufacture.

@tcope - since you seem to know alot about facts, Did you hear about Apple computer, in 2017 purchasing the Chinese drone manufacturer, DJI for an undisclosed amount of cash and stock?

Totally wrong. Vet your sources before writing such inaccurate articles.

Sorry, didn’t mean to come across as a jerk. It’s just a misleading article. DJI approached Go Pro and Go Pro balked. Stated they would go on their own. It didn’t work so well for them in the Drone business.

GoPro did not balk. They made a deal with Quinn and thought everything was good. Quinn went back to Wang and Wang shut down the deal. DJI was small and did not have a presence in the US. Quinn's view was that he was in charge of DJI NA and was going to make DJI huge in the US. Wang saw this as Quinn thinking he was running the company and shut down the deal.

GoPro had a good drone. The only real problem was that on a few drones the battery popped out while flying. GoPro was losing a lot of money at the time and the decision was made that they should go back to their action camera and focus on their core product rather than dumping even more money into a drone and fighting DJI and the other companies at the time. But the Karma was a good product.

DJI is a private company which is not owned (or was ever owed) by Apple. Apple made a deal with DJI to carry DJI products in it's Apple stores.
