DJI Assistant 2 won't recognize my firmware

I've used DJI Assistant 2 for quite awhile with no issues, so this is not newbie user error, but now when I power up the RC and Drone and connect the RC to my PC or MAC (doesn't matter which) it will not recognize my firmware... I was able to update the firmware using my cell phone via software routes, but even after I've completely updated the software, DJI Assistant 2 won't recognize.

Any suggestions? thoughts? Concerns?

You remember only the device plugged in will be seen, right? And that the RC needs to be plugged befrore being turned on?

And just to confirm, if the RC is plugged in and recognized by the DJI assistant the firmware version that it's currently on as well as any upgrades should show up. Also by plugging in the RC and having the drone on as well it updates both the RC and drone firmware simultaneously. Correct me if that's incorrect in any way. However, having said that, when I follow that methodology, it does not show what current firmware it's on it does not allow resetting to factory defaults either.
