DJI Drones used to monitor Notre Dame Cathedral fire in Paris

A video released by the French Government shows views of the scene and the effort made to contain the fire. At about 1:35 in the video we see a French Drone Pilot and a view of the DJI Go screen. I’ve included two screen shots and a link to the story which has the video.

Good find! I read a report on The Verge just now with some more details. Sounds like they had a Matrice and a Mavic Pro and used them to find the best spots to aim the hoses. Here's the article:

Yes! That's exactly what I thought after reading the article. Maybe Parisians will see that drones can be helpful. Sounds like the entirety of Paris is one big no fly zone right now.

Yeah. A rumor like that probably wouldn't help things. Although a faulty LIPO in a tool at the jobsite could have legitimately been the cause. Who knows? So sad though, whatever it was.

This last part in post #3 is sort of confusing . . . it sounded like the Parisian Police Drone Unit didn't have its own drones and had to borrow them !
Suspect just a badly written para one way or the other . . . it said they didn't use flir, but you'd think they would have those in their arsenal of drones, one of the best tools a Police squad could have.

“The mission was delicate and they intelligently called for the Parisian Police Drone Unit cell, which is a dedicated team of professional drone pilots ready to intervene in critical missions,” the spokesperson added. The drones were borrowed from France’s culture and interior ministries, as firefighters still don’t have their own drones.

I can confirm plenty of seagulls in Paris.

Seagulls travel from the sea to Paris along the river Seine (365 km). They stay along the banks.
