Hi all,

Is there a way to fly the MM with an Oculus Go? Maybe we can somehow side load the Fly app and then connect the Go via USB to the RC.

Would that work? What do you think?
If yes, then we have a rather cheap way to fly FPV.

Thanks

It might be easier to use the Epson bt-300 glasses, but I haven't tried side loading the DJI Fly app.

Update: tried to side load via side
quest but it seems that it cannot be installed.

Update 2: Had to update the oculus tv app as it was old version. Seems to have been installed now. Will get back with more.

Update 3: Installed ok. Had to copy .obb file as well. Logged in okay.

Considerations:
1) I have no cable to connect the Go to the RC. Should be a micro USB to micro USB.
2) Even if I had a cable, would the two communicate?
3) The Go has no built in GPS which is of course a problem. Maybe it could acquire GPS signal via BT from my iPhone somehow but I have no idea if this can happen and how to do it.

Any help/ideas will be appreciated.

I think I read somewhere that the Epson runs android 6 which is too old for DJI fly to run on.

Your probably right

You need Micro OTG on the RC end, whether that's a Micro OTG male to full A female adapter followed by standard micro data cable, or custom micro OTG to micro cable. You may want to test for compatibility with the included short cable.

GPS on remote device is a plus, but not necessary.

Hey there @DanMan32 . Quite a disappointment.

I tested with the included short cable and with the combination you described.
Oculus Go was charging but no connection in both cases.

The Oculus Go cannot see the aircraft.

Can someone explain why?

Thanks

You definitely have to install the Fly app. I thought that was a given, but rereading your posts, I see it wasn't.
Be sure the Occulus has Android 6.0 or higher, 64 bit CPU and Android, and 3-4GB of installed RAM. If the Fly app installs and runs, then you probably have the prerequisites.

Should be no reason to mess with .obb or any other files. I doubt it will work if you had to do that.

I initially installed the apk but I got message that a source file was missing.
The obb is actually a graphics library or smth as far as I am concerned.
When you download from play store it is already included.

The app does work on the Oculus Go. I logged into my account. All the functionality is there. BUT, it cannot see the RC.

This is the most relevant info I have found after some research.

So far I had the USB debugging ON. I will set it I off and retry later in the day.

So I tried again with debugging set to off. Both with latest Oculus Go FW and the previous one.

There pops up a message that the “connected USB device wants to access folders and files”. I can barely press “accept/allow” before the Dialog goes away. BUT that Dialog comes again after some seconds.

Drone App will never “see” the RC.
I officially declare this a dead end.

If the MM RC supported WiFi instead of OTG connection to the phone then it would probably work withe the Go. But is doesn't, does it?

Hi

I try it to to install DJI fly APP on the oculus go and I did it, I got the official app 1.0.6 and work on oculus bat I can't see the Mavic. I made the long usb micro cabel and connect the go and Mavic and live view is not available.

Are you have a solution?

Thanks

Hi all,

I tested again after a Go update and with the latest Android apk directly from DJI website.

Still not working. The Go will not "see" the remote controller.

you can use the Oculus Go with the Mavic Mini through Screen Mirroring ... no hacks or sideload necessairy.
on the phone i've installed the app "Screen Mirroring " from EasyAndroidTools .
Open a wifi hotspot with your phone and connect the Oculus Go.
Launch the app "Screen Mirroring", it will give you an address like 192.168.100:8190 - copy this address in your Oculus internet browser (Firefox etc) and you'll see your phone screen in the Oculus.
Launch DJI Fly and you're ready to take off :)
There is a slight delay of 1 second - but not an issue at all ... as long as you don't go for a race

This could be handy for letting someone else watch but 1 sec of lag is too much, I think. Unless you fly high and slow, that is.

You're right when flying close to any objects but I use it for grabbing videos on save altitude, therefore it really does a great job
