Looking at upgrading my SC with a amplified antenna from alientech. I see they do the pro version in 2.4, 5.8 or dual. I want to improve signal strength mainly for mountain terrain flying and also for areas with lots off trees.
What one is most suitable ? My controller is uk CE and will also be using it in remote parts of Mindanao in ph.

I don't think it will be the silver bullet for trees.

Since your CE controller has both 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz frequencies, you'd have to go for the Alientech Duo II amplified.

What Mavic are you flying? If is a Mini CE version you need the 2.4Ghz.
If you want a simple antenna I will go with the DUO non-boosted

All depend in how much you want to invest (or expend) LOL.

The 2.4ghz = In theory has more penetration and better for distance but suffer from interference frequently.

The 5.8Ghz= Transmit a wider band of data (Better video feed = HD Video) has less distance (In theory) sufferer much less from interference.

I own the 5.8Ghz boosted and i can get easy over 20,000 FT in 5.8Ghz

The best of 2 words is own the DUO II that is the dual antenna boosted but is very expensive.

Mavic 2 pro and smart controller. I’m not so much interested in long range but need I think better penetration describes what I’m looking for.

I will be using this commercially doing site trips with clients, in locations that tend not to have power or internet. A lot are 1-2 hours by boat then a hour long drive so reliability and a steady platform is what I need.

You will be fine with the DUO antenna then. But if you want a even solid connection then get the 5.8Ghz boosted will give you the best quality in transmission.

The small one is the 5.8Ghz boosted.
The other one is the DUO II Boosted

Thank you ! One more question when they are connected can you still get access to the hdmi port and USB port ? Or will I need a pair of extenders ?

With the 5.8 booster you have more clearance than the DUO II.

Thank you the pictures answered all my questions but one, would I be able to use a boosted 5.8 and set my controller to only use that channel? Or would it work unboosted in 2.4 mode ?

Thank you so much for your help it’s much appreciated!

Maybe try FCC hack,or fake GPS,before opening up your remote.
I have the hack with parabolic and 5.8 yagi, (I like the silicon copper versions) that I fly with my SC.M2Z and Mini with standard remote, both CE versions.
The difference between this and default antennas with CE version is very impressive, and easy to reverse.
You can also find parabolics for SC,as standard one does not fit.

If you get the 5.8Ghz version you need to manually select in transmission the 5.8 Only. You can leave the channels automatically or select manually a clean channel. I personally use leave it Auto.

If it helps. I have the Alientech Duo 2.4 & 5.8G and also the Pro 2.4G. The Duo gives around 2 km range and the Pro 4 km range. VLOS both have strong signals although I have never flown in a mountainous area. Alientech now have the new 2.4 + 5.8G Duo 2. This is the one I would go for. It may seem a bit pricey but I think it would be worth it in the long run.
