This is my first official thread, so be gentle ☺️. The best laid plans...ever hear that? Well my hopes of flying my shiny new Mini 2 off the deck of my summer cabin over the waters of Puget Sound have been dashed.

It seems that just 850 feet in front of my property there is a big red no fly zone. Unbeknownst to me all these years, but apparently imposed in July of 2018. Here's a photo followed by my question(s):
DOD_NSUFR.jpg
The big blotch of purple indicates the area of concern. Somewhere I read about leaving 3000 feet of distance between one of these zones. But my confusion is, when I place a pin over my cabin on the B4UFLY app, it clearly says 'Clear for Takeoff'. Am I to understand that this is to mean I can fly UP TO but NOT INTO said boundary? And to this end I'm guessing that requesting a LAANC authorization won't get me in the back door.
Thanks

Actually, that's not an NFZ, it's more of a "make sure no naval vessels are around before you fly" zone.

Actual wording for the area:
NATIONAL SECURITY. See FDC 0/0229. Unmanned Aircraft (UA) operations are prohibited within 3,000 ft. laterally and 1,000 ft. above USN or USCG vessels. Operating in the indicated airspace may result in disruption, seizure, or destruction of UA.

Basically, stay away from the Navy.

You can double check actual wording of these areas by putting the address of where you're flying in this search box: ArcGIS Web Application

But, but, they're submarines for cryin' out loud ;)

Thanks Vic. We rarely see them passing by, and they're usually escorted by a couple support vessels. Pretty obvious, and we'll get out of the air long before they're within the magic 3000 ft range.
