Does iPad cellular?

Hi,

Manual says “Mobile cellular data is required when using DJI Fly.”

Does an iPad Mini 5 need to be cellular? I can’t get cheaper WI-FI Model?

Cell is not required on any DJI products that I run.
If the air2 needs that, I’m unaware.

No, it isn't required. But it sure is handy to have GPS available on the iPad itself. I'm using a cellular-enabled iPad mini 5, but I do not have a cellular plan associated with it. The non-cellular iPads don't even have the GPS hardware in them.

Note: I use the GPS for a lot more than just flying - this iPad is also my PocketPacket terminal for APRS, as well as slowscan TV viewer.

Thank you. I read this thread before but OP asked about this who had Mavic Pro. I have Mavic Air 2.

Same here. The other advantage is the resale value that the cell model has.
