Does the main camera play any role in obstacle avoidance or APAS?

I haven't quite found out whether the gimbaled main camera has any say in obstacle avoidance or APAS. What I gather is the vision system cameras handle those (makes sense), but I'd like to know if the main camera also aids in some way. If not, I imagine it could be panned to the side for those manual parallel runs, while still making full use of the AI for APAS. Or am I just daydreaming here?

I'm pretty sure that the main camera isn't part of the system - otherwise it would have to be pointing in the direction of travel, and not down, for example. Backwards would be a real problem too.
Yeah, that seems only reasonable. I'll give this a shot once the bird arrives. Easy enough to test on the local, field-side singletracks with their natural obstacle courses :)
