Hi,

I've noticed that with my left eye, at the 1/3 side of the right screen, I am getting a shifted copy of what it appears on the screen (cursor, icon-like the camera on the camera app).
On the right eye, all the screen looks ok.
Do you think the problem is with my vision or it with the BT-300?

THANKS

That is one of the issues with the BT-300 - the distance between peoples pupils / eyes (Pupillary Distance often referred to as PD by opticians) are not the same. If you are an outlier - like I am - then you might get double vision. Many VR headsets have the possibility to adjust the glasses to compensate but the BT-300's does not have that possibility.

As Dvegaman wrote - the Rochester Optical is an option. They can correct for some PD. I have them and they are good - but not perfect. My vision and prescription tests was done by the best in UK - and sent to Rochester - and it is better than no correction but still slight blur on the absolute outer edges. But I can live with it.

For the next version of BT-300's I would prefer if Epson made it possible to adjust the PD on the glasses. It would also make it possible to use cheaper prescription glasses.

The BT-300's are set to static PD of 70. So if you try the below home test - you can quickly verify if you are more or less and IF it is PD correction you need.

For a home test: http://static.zennioptical.com/media/Zenni-Optical-PD-Ruler.pdf

But before you go ahead and order - get the PD measured professionally!

The double vision in my device is not just at the top right, I see double (with my left eye) even the camera logo when I open the camera app - it is on the right side but at the center on the Y-axis.

So check your PD and your vision. If you use reading glasses and/or have a PD <> 70 then the Rochester lenses can help

I just ordered my inserts. I'll let you know how they work when they come in.

FYI: Two things of interest:
  1. You need to send them your Monocular IPD. This is TWO numbers, not just the distance between your pupils. It's the distance of each of your pupils from the center of your head...and that distance is often different. Mine are 29/30 for a total of 59.
  2. If you give them your prescription, it needs to be your DISTANCE prescription. This is because the Moverios project a screen that appears to be 5 meters in front of you. You need the prescription that allows you to read at that distance!
I got both of these tips by calling Rochester and speaking to Sam Chen, who is their "insert specialist". I recommend you give them a call if you have any questions. He was terrifically helpful.

OK...I'll report back here when I get them back and check them out!

Thank you,
Please let me know if it solved the unfocus edges.

I had the BT-300s but all the issues led me to sell them. You can't adjust the IPD, the control unit is wonky and terrible, the thing overheats pretty bad when outside in warmer weather, they are uncomfortable to wear for extended periods due to the nosepiece being hard plastic. There are things you can do to alleviate some of the issues, but it's just too much for me. I just want something that works well out of the box. I don't want to have to do ten different workarounds to make them usable. I ended up selling them and getting the crystalsky and haven't looked back. I was super excited about them before I got them, but they just weren't up to par. The idea is awesome and I may come back for the BT-400s if they solve many of the issues. They idea of these glasses is great, Epson just did a poor job in execution in my opinion.

I just got the Rochester Optical inserts for by BT-300. They make a huge difference. The fit is very good and I can now see the full screen clearly. Well worth the money for me. You can check them out here. BT-300 Prescription Insert » Rochester Optical
I'm glad to hear this. How long did it take to get them? I placed my order for mine back on May 12. To my knowledge, they haven't shipped yet. From all I've heard, these are the one thing you really need to make these glasses work well. I already love mine - and I haven't had the same issues with heat build up or other workarounds...but to get rid of the slight ghosting and double vision due to IPD adjustments would be the final touch!

I ordered mine on May 10 and they came today. They sent a email last night with the tracking number and they were here by 10:00 am.

OK! They arrived! The inserts WORK! I was shocked. I could see, I could read, and suddenly I realized what the little icons on the top of the screen were!

At first, I had to move the glasses around just a little bit, but found the perfect position of the nose bridge and everything aligned from end to end. That must have been the IPD adjustment in play. They stayed in place from that point on. Really nice.

I can't wait to fly with these now. I watched some of my videos from previous flights and the immersive experience is even better. I'm thrilled!

OK...worth it for me and now my Moverio setup is complete. I will continue to swear by these!

Thank for your report Gary,
Do you have any Diopter (Plus Or minus) or jut different IPD rather than the glasses were set?

My prescription has both IPD adjustment and my distance prescription (which is pretty mild). The interesting thing is that you don't use your reading glasses prescription...you use your DISTANCE prescription! Sam Chen, the Rochester Optical guy, explained that since the glasses simulate a screen that's 5 meters away from your face, you should use your prescription for distance rather than for reading. And he's right.
I have 20/30 vision for distance but need 2.5 diopters for reading (because I'm old). When I first got the goggles, I tried tucking my readers under the goggles but stopped because I noticed that I actually saw better without the reading glasses, but I didn't understand why. After talking to Sam, I got it. The 20/30 prescription is pretty close to perfect.

It’s sure different than the dji goggles as they use your reading prescription if you need help . The idea of being able to see the drone with out flipping up the heavy dji goggles sure is appealing to me . Do they have features like the gimble following your head movement . That is the setting I use the most on my dji ones

I'm not sure why it would be different since the idea of the technology is the same. The logic that you would want to use the prescription at the distance that the screen appears virtually makes a great deal of sense...but I wouldn't have known it if I didn't talk to Sam at Rochester.

EM already answered your second question...but the Moverios have the gyros and sensor to do all sorts of head tracking...it seems you can see it working when you use the simulator app that Epson produces. They CLAIM to be working on an app (with DJI) to replace Go 4 for Moverio users - hopefully that one would take head motion into consideration... EM: Want to comment?

Thanks Gary,
as you I have almost perfect distance vision (do no need a glasses at all but it seems that The Moverio were not designed to my IPD.
Since the price different of Rochester Optical lens is not so small between correcting the IPD only to the IPD+ optic, it is interesting if just correcting the IPD will improve the vision.
What type of lens did you order from Rochester?

It doesn't work that way. I had the same misconception. The "Single Vision" option is the MINIMUM option for IPD correction - with or without a prescription lens. The Non-Plano does not have any corrections at all...they're fundamentally "Frame Only" so you would go and get your own lenses made (with IPD, if that's possible). So, you're starting at 199. No easy way out :( That's also why I got the correction put in even though I don't wear distance glasses...I figured, why not get the distance correction even though my eyes can correct for it normally? I'm paying the same price either way.
