Drone insurance in Canada

Hello all. Is drone insurance necessary in Canada? The only insurance I see recommended is for commercial drone Pilots. What about the hobbyist in Canada? Anybody??

It is not required in Canada any longer for basic or advanced operations. There may be other good reasons to carry liability insurance though depending on the flying you are doing.

Just a heads up, I had a Phantom 4, it was stolen from my house in a burglary, it is NOT being covered by insurance. All drones are excluded from insurance policies in Canada. I am replacing it with a Mavic Air and will be purchasing Drone insurance, absolute must.

PS I am with AllState for anyone that is curious who denied my claim.
