I've always used a 'Ferrite Bead' Clamp on my DJI and DISCO USB cables and I think maybe they help with any interference from phones, keys etc that you carry. It was suggested that you move any metal objects at least several meters away from you. Not recommended if people in the area! Does anyone else use these, if so would the recommend them?

The potential for a choke to assist in reducing radiated emissions entering your controller is conceivable- how it might help with keys or metallic objects (presumably compromise to compass operation) is hard to appreciate....

wont do diddly squat for keys, I have these all over the place on my amateur radio stuff and electronics connected to or near the radios,

A ferrite bead or ferrite choke is a passive electric component that suppresses high-frequency noise in electronic circuits. It is a specific type of electronic choke. Ferrite beads employ high-frequency current dissipation in a ferrite ceramic to build high-frequency noise suppression devices

If my understanding is correct those ferrite beads only block interference coming in through the cable. They wouldn't block interference coming in directly from the surrounding area. Is that correct?

I don't see how that would do anything to help with compass interference, which is the main concern.

So they are completely useless! Thought they might help in interference between R/C and Phone/Tablet also - guess not.

They will reduce the presence of RF conducted by the cable at the connectors. You would need one on each end of the cable. A seemingly unnecessary benefit however given bare cables seem to work well without them.

Of no relevance to compass operation. Would be interesting to learn where you got that idea.

Hello 'WithTheBirds', There seemed to be a lot of these Ferrite Beads on the printers and laptops etc (although there doesn't seem to be now) that I purchased and didn't have a clue what they were! When I first got into drones I did a bit of research and thought they might be useful in stopping interference - but now I'm not sure! Might remove them. Had a quick look at on rcuniverse.com this morning and their use seems debatable.

Almost if not total waste of time and effort on your USB cables for DJI products...
