Following Jet Ski on Inlet

I am going to try and active track my son on his jet ski in an inlet in South Carolina, I will b on land, and active tracking him, all will b line of sight, there are some creeks he will b riding through, any suggestions when flying over water? I have tracked him many times on his dirt bike, golf cart etc... but never over water, and all will b shot within 2-3 hundred yards of me, I have attached pic of inlet and i will b standing on our dock. Any suggestions would b greatly appreciated, thanks

the more he stays away from the confusing (for activetrack) land masses the better the sensors will stay locked on him.
