Gimbal clamp!!

When your upgrading firmware or just connecting to the pc should you take the clamp off or is it okay to leave on?

Take it off any time you turn on the Mavic or risk permanent damage to the gimbal as it tries to go through its startup calibration routine.

Or more accurately, remove the gimbal clamp before your power up.

Yes, remove. As to possible damage, the jury is still out. DJI made a firmware update early on that supposedly reduced the possibility of damage, and several here have forgotten the clamp a plethora of times without damage. I've forgotten mine 4 times now...

Just bunch-up one of those microfiber eyeglass clothes and put it under the canopy leaving the gimbal clamp off of course. Your gimbal now secured for travel! That way, you’ll never get a gimbal error because the cloth just falls out when you expose the camera. And - I use the cloth to clean the camera lens and my iPad.
