With the last 4 flights, about 30 seconds after take off, the controller would sound a warning and show a lengthily message about about a GPS failure and then continue with a message "no gps". The drone would fly around in random directions at full speed for about 45 seconds . . then it was fine. It was over a lake but near shore. I was able to turn it around to avoid collisions with trees but had some very close calls. I should have just gone UP as fast a possible.

Is there a log somewhere of events like this ? Any guess about what's going on ?

The first time there was very heavy cloud cover, but the other flights were in sunny conditions.

Rather than guess what happened, it's always best to have the recorded flight data analysed to find out the cause of the incident.

Go to DJI Flight Log Viewer | Phantom Help
Follow the instructions there to upload your flight record from your phone or tablet.
That will give you a detailed report of the flight.
Come back and post a link to the report it gives you.
Or .. just post the txt file here.

Weather conditions have no effect on GPS.
