Hi all,
Have followed drones for years but as a fulltime commercial photographer, I waited until the cost-benefit ratio of drone cost to image quality to potential earnings equation worked in my favour
So near the end of our covid lockdown in May, I purchased a MA2 and couldn't have been happier with my purchase
Have just done new firmware update today
Although I'm new to drone operation, I've managed to discover some new things about it I haven't seen mentioned on here so will post these findings in the appropriate forums
Weather getting warmer, lambs and calves everywhere, spring is on the way
Perfect time for flying :)
Cheers, Stu

Welcome to our forum, from Hauptmann in North Texas!

The MA2 makes a fantastic camera platform. As a pro, you'll really appreciate the added flexibility it gives you. Lots of cool stuff to shoot on South Island! Read the manual (link below), and be conservative at first. Practice using "Find My Drone". Don't wait until you lose your MA2 before you try to learn how to find it.

We have over 100,000 members world wide to help you advance as a pilot . Your experience as a photographer will be a great asset to this forum. Ask for help when you need it. Definitely share your work with us!

Thanks for joining!

Welcome to the forum! :)

Hi everyone
Thanks for your friendly greetings
As of yesterday, my drone has officially paid for itself :) and that includes the drone, 5x batteries, hard case, car charger etc, etc
currently 24hrs in the air ( mainly learning, not work ), 123kms and 169 flights
Over the years I've spent 100's of thousands of dollars on camera equipment and this would be the fastest return on investment of all the gear I've ever purchased
During the last few months, I've also had my share of crashes and have discovered some interesting things so will start posting my findings on the forums now
My latest thing I learned - Stay away from bees
At the request of a beekeeper, he wanted me to do a panorama in the middle of one of his bee hive yards and upon completion I returned the drone to my position where the beekeeper commented that the bees must have attacked it as it looked to be covered in bee excrement - Turns out it was covered in chopped up bees ! Oops !
He didn't mind and was more than happy with the panorama ( my first one, and stitched pretty crappily by the DJI software ) but I won't be doing that again soon
It took over an hour to clean all the bee off the drone
Lesson learned !
Cheers, Stu
