Can I throw away the BT-300 control box and use that little black box as in the BT-35e
Then plug them straight into my standard RC1A Controller?

So are you saying that the BT-35e ones will not work with the RC1A?
I would have thought you could use a different cable to plug into the USB port?

I forgot that in some situations USB-C can be used natively for video transmissions.

But I've yet to find a USB-C hub that has 3 or more USB-C data channels. The third USB-C port is for power only, effectively making it a power injector rather than a full USB hub.

The other issue is if your mobile device supports HDMI over USB-C. The later model Samsung tablets don't, though the phones do. With a popular brand like Samsung, you tend to wonder why.

I think I realize what you are trying to do: plug the phone into the side port of the RC, the BT into the bottom port.

Two problems with that.
First, if the short cable is plugged into the side Micro-USB port, the bottom USB A port is disabled for data (though it will supply 500mA power). This is true even if the other end of the short cable is not connected to anything. You can use the side port to charge the RC while you use the bottom port for connecting to your phone however.
Second, the RC would not act as a USB pass-through/hub. Remember, it is the phone/app that's providing the video, not the RC.

The Inspire remotes (at least Inspire 1) had an HDMI port but only provided FPV view sent from the AC. It was possible to get the HDMI board for the P3's but those were over $100.

Thanks made sense

That or a tablet/phone with HDMI out separate from the USB port.

I forgot to mention that the RC still needs a mobile device to run the app. The BT-300 module substitutes for the mobile but the BT-35e is only a display monitor, not a mobile device to run the app.
True, you can fly with the RC only, but it will severely limit your height and distance, not to mention losing all other functions in the app.
